Mommy Moments
From time to time, I may add
stories, words of
encouragement, (we need all we
can get! :) and various ideas
here.  Some stories may  be fun,
some helpful, and for some you
may need to "break out the
Kleenex."   :)
You're also welcome to send in
your stories.  Your experience
could help someone else by
giving them an idea, or a smile.

Why Me?
In caring for your disabled or special needs child, have you ever asked: "Why me?
Why my child?"  This is a natural, normal question that even the most patient and
nurturing of parents and caregivers may ask themselves.  But, have you ever
stopped to think- maybe a better question might be- "Why
not me?"   Have you
considered the possibility that maybe you have been chosen for a specific
purpose?  That somehow, maybe, you are uniquely qualified to care for your
child?
What a wonderful gift we've been given- (yes, I said gift!  :)  -because of our
challenges, we will learn patience (Heaven help us! :), we will have compassion
that we wouldn't have had otherwise, and we will be the better for having these
special children in our lives.  Our children may have their struggles, but when they
reach a milestone, or achieve something that before seemed out of reach, we
celebrate and appreciate their progress that much more.  So, the next time your
child has a meltdown in Wal-Mart (with every eye upon you), or you feel like
pulling your hair out as you pray for nap time so you can have "just 5 minutes of
peace, please!"  Know this: you are not alone in this! And, not to pat ourselves on
the back too much, (though sometimes we could all use a little pat! :) but maybe,
there is something special about
us- that makes us just the right person to care
for that
special child in our life.
A poem written by Erma Bombeck offers an interesting perspective and
encouragement, too.
