Fayette County Parent Mentor-
With a working knowledge of the system,a number of resources, as well as her own personal experience, Pam
Thornburg works within Fayette County schools, (serving both Miami Trace and Washington City Schools), to
bring you the Parent Mentor Project.
The Parent Mentor Project collaborates with several agencies in our area to provide information for children
(ages birth -22) with disabilities and their families. They offer support, training workshops with guest speakers, a
resource library, and many other valuable aids. Pam also assists families with IEP and MFE meetings.

Hopewell Center Parent Advocate- Whether you have a child who's been recently diagnosed, or you have
questions or concerns, you may call our Fayette County Parent Advocate Nora DeBruin at (740) 437-7678.

Fayette County Board of DD- Education, job training, housing, transportation, and additional services for
children, adults, and families. Services include:
- SSA (Service and Support Administration)- services for County Board eligible ages 3- adult
- Adult Services- Sheltered Work Program, Seniors Program, Low Work Emphasis Program (LWE),

- BSAC (Behavior Support Advisory Council) which is a group comprised of Parents, Educators,
Caregivers and Professionals who are concerned with the behavioral needs of children.

Head Start Fayette County Head Start is a FREE preschool program for children ages 3-5 years old.
Breakfast, lunch, and a snack are provided. Children receive developmental, speech, vision, and hearing
screenings onsite. They serve all eligible children, including children with disabilities.
Head Start currently accepts applications year-round for the ELI (Early Learning Iniative) Program. Also, you
may apply for the new Washington City Schools Preschool. Call (740) 335-7138 for information.
Help Me Grow
Help Me Grow serves a diverse population of expectant parents, newborns and toddlers in Fayette County. A
wide variety of services designed to encourage the development of young children is available to all eligible
