Emergency Preparedness

An emergency can happen at any time, in any place.
You may remember an emergency situation here in Fayette County a time
ago that was caused by an improbable windstorm.  Many were surprised
and caught off guard, proving again how unpredictable and unexpected
disasters or emergencies can be.

The Fayette County Emergency Agency, in coordination with The
Department of Homeland Security, recommends having an Emergency
Plan for each family.  Do you have an Emergency Plan in place for your
loved ones?  A little time in preparation now can make all the difference in
protecting you and your family in the event of an emergency.  Don't wait
until a disaster happens to think about Emergency Preparedness.

You or a loved one may have special needs, such as breathing treatments
and  other medical necessities, or mobilizations issues that require extra
care in the case of an emergency situation.  Making arrangements
beforehand will go a long way in decreasing the amount of stress and risk

This site provides emergency checklists, instructional videos, and many
other forms of assistance to help your family prepare.  Below, you'll find
contact information for local and state emergency assistance, as well as
national.

Please put together a plan with your family, taking into account  family
pets & service animals and any special medical needs.  Make sure your
children understand and can follow through with the plan.  Review your
family's Emergency Plan at least every 6 months so that your family can
be ready in the event of an emergency.
